There are four main reasons why plagiarism is wrong. Firstly, it is a loss of a learning opportunity, and it diminishes the writers credibility. Also, if caught plagiarizing, it may result in serious penalties, and finally, it is unethical. (Prentice Hall Reference Guide 378-379)
