MLA and Plagiarism - Bowden

1.      Give four reasons why using MLA is important.
1.      Allows readers to cross-reference your sources easily, provides consistent format within a discipline, Gives you credibility as a writer, and protects yourself from plagiarism.
2.      What is the purpose of using a consistent format?
1.      This helps your readers understand your arguments and the sources they are building on. Also this helps you keep track of your sources as you build the argument.
3.      According to the PowerPoint, what would be the consequence of plagiarizing?
1.      Two consequences could be failing the assignment and/or expulsion form school.
4.      Where can you find answers about how to properly cite in MLA format?
1.      First, Prentice Hall Reference Guide, second, composition handbooks, thirdly, www.mla.com, and lastly, the OWL website.
5.      Name two purposes of a works cited page?
1.      First, it will make you a complete list of every source that you make references to in your essay, and secondly, it will provide the information necessary for a reader to locate and retrieve any sources cited in your essay.
