MLA

1.      Give four reasons why using MLA is important.

It allows readers to cross-reference your sources easily, provides consistent format within a discipline, give you credibility as a writer, and protects you from plagiarism.

2.       What is the purpose of using a consistent format?

Using a consistent format helps the reader understand your arguments and it also helps you keep track of your sources as you build arguments.

3.       According to the PowerPoint, what would be the consequence of plagiarizing?

Plagiarizing may result in anything from a failing grade on the assignment to being expelled from the school.

4.       Where can you find answers about how to properly cite in MLA format?

You can find answers in the Prentiss Hall Reference Guide, composition textbooks, www.mla.org, or the OWL website.

5.       Name two purposes of a works cited page.

A works cited page provides a complete list of every source you reference in you essay as well as providing the information necessary for a reader to locate and retrieve any sources cited in your essay.
